MC Cup October 2012 Tournament Results

The 8th MC Cup Qualifiers event for 2012 was enjoyed by 65 keen Chess players ranging in age from 4 through to 16 years.

There were 11 girls that participated in the event.

Chess Power Arbiters

Paul Macdonald was the Chief Arbiter for the day.

Roshan Gallage and Bruce Pollard were Assistant Arbiters.

Liam Macdonald and Brandon Walker kindly helped in the kitchen for the day serving chocolate fish, bikkies, raro, tea and coffee.

Challenges

Raaz Alfassi won 50 Chess Power Dollars for completing the Fastest Cowboy in the West™ in 17 seconds.

William Shin won 50 Chess Power Dollars for finishing the Knights Tour Challenge™.

William Zhang kindly ran the Master Challenge™ and only lost one game the whole day against Leo Zhang. Congratulations go to Leo who won 100 Chess Power Dollars for his efforts!!

Biggest Upset

The biggest upsets were as follows:

Pawns division - Joshua Kueh for winning against Jacob Ryan in the 3rd round. Joshua wins 20 Chess Power dollars

Rooks division - Danny Su for beating Nathaniel Yan in the 2nd round. Danny wins 20 Chess Power dollars

Kings division - Leo Zhang for winning against Johnson Li, the 7th MC Cup Champion, in the 3rd round. Leo wins 50 Chess Power dollars

Spot Prizes for Merit Award Winners

The winners of the spot prizes were as follows:

Pawns division - Nadav Amir wins 20 CPDs

Rooks division - Daniel Salazar wins 50 CPDs

Kings division - Patch Johnson wins 100 CPDs
