The 1st MC Cup tournament for 2014 attracted 62 avid competitors. The event was full of fun, excitement and the lolli scramble was the best ever!
Paul Macdonald was the Chief Arbiter for the Pawns and Knights divisions.
Bruce Pollard was the Chief Arbiter for the Rooks and Kings divisions.
Jade Macdonald ran the Chess Power Store. And Liam Macdonald did great work in the kitchen making sure everyone got refreshments - it wasn't easy getting a biscuit sometimes! ;-)
Special Prizes
The Fastest Cowboy in the West™ was Rishit Patel who managed 26 seconds. Rishit picks up $10 Chess Power dollars. Samuel Zheng recorded a faster time of 18 seconds but he wasn't present and his witnesses couldn't be verified. | |

Biggest Upset
The biggest upsets seemed to mostly occur during the 5th round. Perhaps the stronger players on paper were getting a little tired! The biggest upsets were as follows:
