REGISTRATION IS MANDATORY FOR ALL PLAYERS TO SECURE YOUR PLACE

 

Format

  • Open to all Junior players aged under 20 years before 1 January 2021
  • NZCF + FIDE rated
  • 6 Divisions with 10 players in each division
  • 10 player round-robin, 9 rounds (Two rounds per day, one round on the last day)
  • Classical Time control:  1 hour, 15 minutes + 30 seconds bonus/move
  • Tie break system
    If two or more players achieve the same score at the end of the event, tie-breaks will be used to determine the overall winner as follows: 
    • The greater number of wins
    • Sonneborn-Berger (the sum of the scores of the opponents a player has defeated and half the scores of the players with whom he has drawn).
    • Koya System (the number of points achieved against all opponents who have achieved 50 % or more)
    • The greater number of wins with Black (unplayed games shall be counted as played with White

Morning round: 09:00am - 1:30pm

Afternoon round: 2:00pm - 6:30pm

All players must pre-register 

Players who attend the event and do not pre-register will not be able to participate.

Default Time: Players who fail to arrive longer than 30 minutes after a round has started will be defaulted and receive zero points for their game.

Prizes

The rating brackets below are guidelines only. Players will be placed into grades based on the current NZCF rating with nine other players of similar strength. The average rating of the players in a grade will determine the level of the grade and therefore the prize money offered.

The player with the best score in each grade will have the right to play in the next higher grade at next years' Junior Masters.

Eligibility

Junior Masters is open to all players aged between 4 and 20. No adults are allowed to play.

Rating

All games will be rated.

  • The A, B, C, D, E and F grades will be NZCF & FIDE rated (subject to a minimum number of FIDE rated players. One third or more of the players in a grade will need an existing FIDE rating for the division to be FIDE rated).
  • Any additional grades added will be NZCF rated but not FIDE rated

 

Entry Fees

$120 per player (if paid 5 days before the tournament is due to start - close of business Thursday, 22 April)

$140 per player (LATE ENTRY - if paid later than five days before the tournament starts)

Payment Options

You can pay prior to the event by;

  • All major credit cards and by Bank Transfer

Payment Options are available to you after you register. You can also pay on the day - cash only however the fee will be $140.

Can't make a round

If you are unable to make a round, you can arrange a half point bye with a limit of up to two rounds. Please advise us if you intend to take up this option via the comments box when you register online and the dates/times you can't make.
